Shale gas fracturing water supply flow affected by those factors

2023 06/27

China's Sichuan region and surrounding areas contain a large amount of Shale gas. At present, the country vigorously supports shale gas fracturing mining projects for energy security. Shale gas fracturing mining needs to supply a large amount of water resources, while Shale gas mining in China is mostly in mountainous areas. The most common terrain here is mountainous areas, where there is no shortage of water resources. However, the water source is relatively far away from the mining site, the terrain is low, and the mountain roads are complex, so the water supply problem is very prominent. How to reasonably plan and improve the water supply flow is the primary consideration of technical personnel of relevant units.
What factors affect the water supply flow of shale gas fracturing:
1. The diameter and inner wall smoothness of the water supply hose
The larger the diameter of the water supply hose, the greater the flow rate per unit time under the same conditions. A hose with a smooth inner wall will have a reduced impact on the water flow, thereby increasing the flow rate.
2. Water pump factors
The flow rate per unit time of water supply is closely related to the water pump, and the specifications of the water pump itself determine the upper limit of the water supply flow rate. At the same time, the correct wiring method is also important, otherwise the flow rate will not reach the rated specifications. When multiple water pumps are connected in parallel, attention should also be paid to the design of the convergence port and the reduction of turbulence. At the same time, the pump head should be greater than the actual water supply height difference.
3. Planning factors for hose routing
If the bending angle of the hose is too large, a metal elbow should be used as a transition, and the pipeline should not be bent or deformed, as this situation will greatly reduce the flow rate of the pipeline. Reasonably utilize the terrain and try to take the shortest route for pipelines. Try not to use hoses smaller than the planned diameter on the same route, as this will reduce the design flow rate.
summary
In order to minimize the loss of water supply flow as much as possible, water supply project management personnel should choose high-pressure flat coiled polyurethane hoses with smooth inner walls as much as possible, and choose polyurethane hoses with large diameters and high pressure resistance as much as possible. The rated flow rate of the water pump should meet the design flow requirements. During installation, attention should be paid to not connecting the pipeline incorrectly. At the same time, before arranging the pipeline, multiple routes should be taken to determine a water supply route with fewer routes and fewer bends, Install an elbow at the point where the hose turns into a large bend. Although it is not possible to cover all aspects in actual operation, these issues should be minimized as much as possible to ensure flow and reduce energy consumption during water supply.
